Our leadership team brings decades of experience in renewable energy, finance, software and entreperneurship, and more than 5,000MW of renewable energy development.
Steve currently serves as the CEO of Catalyze where he leverages his 25 years of experience managing companies in renewable energy, EPC and control systems technology. Steve has held executive leadership positions in large engineering, construction and project companies like Quanta Power Generation, Boeing Energy, BAE Systems Energy, and Lockheed Martin Energy where his business units have developed, designed, financed, constructed and operated over $2B in renewable energy projects, including over 800 MW of solar, storage, microgrids, substations, energy efficiency, and related services. Steve holds a BS, MS, and PhD from the University of Alabama.
Steve is a senior software executive specializing in building world class software engineering and technical sales and support teams from early stage start-ups and beyond. He has been a leader in the San Francisco Bay area renewable-energy technology community for nearly a decade. Previously, he was the CTO and VP of Software Engineering at Sungevity, a leading residential solar development company where he led the Software Engineering team in designing, building and implementation of their national and international software backbone for residential solar design, account management, regulatory compliance, and finance. Prior to Sungevity, he was the VP of Software Engineering at Sunrun, the leader in residential solar sales, design and installation. He has a proven track record in building highly scalable software platforms across many industries using cutting edge technologies and brings more than 25 years of experience in high-end software development, database engineering and analytics, and building Engineering teams. Originally from England, Steve studied computer science at Guildford University.
James brings twenty-five years of entrepreneurial, technology, finance, and energy expertise to renewable energy analytics. Previously, James spent 17 years exclusively building software companies as Managing Director of Converge Venture Partners, a Boston-based seed investment fund, and its predecessor, CommonAngels, an angel group comprised of leaders in the technology community. He previously worked at Cambridge Energy Research Associates and for US Department of Energy, at the latter managing a team of 30 senior scientists and engineers at the US National Laboratories. Prior to that role, James was the Environment, Science & Technology Officer at the US Department of State’s Office of Russian Affairs, handling a wide range of bilateral and multi-lateral programs, including climate change, non-proliferation, satellite launches, and the International Space Station Agreement. James earned his MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, a Master’s Degree from UCLA in political science, and a bachelor’s degree with highest honors from University of Texas at Austin’s Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program.
SENIOR DIRECTOR ESG & MARKETING
Kristen brings over 10 years of marketing and communications experience working at mission-driven and environmentally-focused startup companies and nonprofits. Prior to joining Catalyze, Kristen was the Senior Director of Marketing at Solect Energy, the leading C&I solar company in Massachusetts, where she led the company’s marketing efforts and contributed to the sales and development of over 90 MW of commercial-scale solar. Earlier in her career, Kristen established and managed marketing activities for a publicly traded Boston-based clean tech company before she moved into the nonprofit space leading the marketing organization for United Planet. Kristen received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, with a focus in Sustainable Development. She’s passionate about environmental sustainability and social justice and has followed these passions throughout her academic and professional career.
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS & PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Rob serves as the Executive Vice President of Business and Project Development. Rob has over 25 years of experience in the North America energy markets. Having held senior executive positions in companies ranging from one of the largest merchant generation companies in North America and leading the North American Power Group for JP Morgan’s Global Commodity Group, to investing in and working for startups, like Enchanted Rock a large C&I reliability and microgrid company. Most recently, Rob served as president at Prisma Energy Solutions, a battery energy storage company, prior to Catalyze’s acquisition in January of 2021.

Debi is an entrepreneur, executive, and consultant for start-up and growth companies. She is passionate about creating great places to work by building high-performing, values-driven cultures and implementing scalable infrastructure. Her expertise includes organizational design, change management, talent acquisition & development, employee relations, compensation & benefits, HRIS & business systems, compliance, and M&A due diligence and integration.
VP STRATEGIC ACCOUNTS
Steve brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial, business development and strategic sales experience to the Catalyze leadership team. Prior to Catalyze, Steve was the VP of Sales and Business Development at Altus Group (Argus Software) where he worked closely with commercial real estate owners, investment managers, REITS, and pension funds, to understand and develop SaaS based data management and analytics solutions that met client’s needs. Prior to Altus Group, Steve was the VP of Sales for Costar’s Investment Analysis product and was responsible for the sales and business development initiatives of the firm’s commercial real estate asset management and business intelligence solutions. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Boston University.
Kenzel D. Hagaman
Kenzel is the general counsel at Catalyze, where she manages the legal needs of the company. As a seasoned legal and clean energy industry executive, Kenzel is skilled in leading teams to solve multi-dimensional problems in corporate and project financing, project development and acquisitions, commercial transactions and technology for Catalyze’s cutting-edge renewable energy projects. Kenzel also supports general corporate, human resources and procurement activities. Kenzel’s prior experience includes vice president of legal at Advanced Microgrid Solutions, where she provided legal support for the financing and development of a 50 MW behind-the-meter energy storage project in southern California. Prior to AMS, Kenzel served as associate general counsel at BrightSource Energy, developer of the utility-scale Ivanpah Solar Power Facility in California. Kenzel received her bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Duke University and her law degree from Yale University.

Kenton is Vice President of Corporate Development at Catalyze, where he manages the company’s strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and investment initiatives. Throughout his career, Kenton has focused exclusively within the renewable energy industry and brings nearly $2.0B of transactional experience through corporate acquisitions, project financings and equity investments. Prior to Catalyze, Kenton served as vice president at Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and previously held roles with AES Distributed Energy and Main Street Power. Kenton earned his bachelor’s degree with a focus on corporate finance and investment analysis from Colorado State University.
Rob Marchetti has been in the Construction industry for 30 years with the last 13 years focused on the Energy sector. He has been involved with three successful startup companies while implementing procurement and construction strategies that built success. In 2013 he co-founded Northern Energy and Power where he spearheaded the procurement and execution strategy that enabled the business to grow exponentially. Rob helped to build a large Renewable Energy group within the organization, signing contracts for over 1 GW of solar and completion of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction of two 10 MW by 2-hour grid-tied storage projects. Rob is committed to the continued success and development of renewable and sustainable energy.

Jonathan serves as president of the PermaCity business unit, following Catalyze’s acquisition of the company in 2021. He founded PermaCity in 2003 with the mission to sustainably self-power the urban environment. He has ten issued U.S. patents, including five related to the proprietary SolarStrap technology.
Jonathan is a sustainable designer and energy expert with the goal to accelerate the pace of environmental transformation. He holds a master’s degree in urban planning and sustainable development from Auckland University in New Zealand and a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
SVP BUSINESS & PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
R.T is a results-oriented business leader with 25+ years of diverse and progressively responsible experience across engineering, marketing and business development in renewable energy, software, and semiconductor industries. Prior to joining Catalyze, R.T. held executive leadership positions at Sterling & Wilson, Phoenix Solar, Renewable Energy Systems, and Quanta Power Generation where he executed over 1,500 MW’s of renewable energy contracts and strategic partnerships.
R.T. has Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. He lives with his wife and son near Boulder Colorado, and enjoys playing drums with local classical, jazz, and rock musicians.
